1. General information
Independent and transversal subject with respect to the subjects of the Degree of Medicine, composed of two subjects: "Health Care Communication, Medical Ethics" and "Legislation". Its objective is for the student to know, apply and have an adequate attitude towards their ethical and legal duties , as well as with the essential contents and skills of healthcare communication and clinical interview.
"These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competency to contribute to Objective 3D of Goal 3, Objectives 1, 2 and 6 of Goal 5 and Objectives 1, 2 and 3 of Goal 16
2. Learning results
Upon passing this subject, the student will demonstrate that they is capable of explaining, applying and acting in accordance with legal and ethical standards in professional practice, mainly in the field of patients' rights (duties of physicians), and that they recognizes all the elements that make up a clinical interview, structure them, and apply strategies for an excellent communication with the patient.
In the three areas of the subject, health care communication, ethics and legislation, the student will have acquired the basics of a "good medical practice" essential for professional practice, as well as the consequences of non-compliance with the ethical and legal norms, since:
- Any medical activity is regulated by law and medical ethics.
- Legal and deontological medical professional liability is a matter of concern to all physicians and should be correctly assessed from its causes to its consequences at all levels (health professionals, health systems, society, justice ) in order to be able to prevent it effectively under society, the judiciary, ....) in order to prevent it effectively under the legal and ethical principles of the profession.
In all this context, it is essential to have a quality Healthcare Communication not only with the patient, but also in the development of skills in the academic and professional environment, etc. It will be extremely useful in the future because the clinical interview is an essential part of the physician's work, whatever their specialty. It should not be forgotten that the skills of Communication with the patient are essential for obtaining good data for the diagnosis and for the therapeutic intervention with the patient to be effective.

4. Academic activities
Legislation I:
Lectures 19h: theoretical contents of the subject and its practical application.
Problems and Cases, 20h: resolution of practical problems of different patient rights/professional duties
Teaching assignments, 13'5h: resulting from the resolution of problems and cases

Master Classes: 19 hours
Seminars and workshops: 20 h. Cases, debates, forums, face-to-face and with ADD support
Portfolios and Rubrics: 13.5 h on specific topics proposed and as a final summary of all the activity carried out.
Personal study. 30 h.
Evaluation Test: 1,5 h.
5. Assessment system
LEGISLATION I:
- Multiple-choice exam, 30 single-choice questions, without subtracting points for wrong answers: 70% is required to pass this exam and equivalent to 5 out of 10 for the final grade ( ). The maximum grade that a student can obtain with the test is 9 points out of 10 (90%). The exam is evaluated if the practices have been carried out.
- Evaluation of the practices: - type 2: 0.5 points (5%)
- type 6: 0.5 points (5%)
- Final grade: the sum of the grades obtained in the previous activities.
HEALTH CARE COMMUNICATION AND ETHICS I:
Written examination: 60% of the grade:
20 multiple-choice questions on Communication and 20 multiple-choice questions on Ethics, with only one correct answer . Missed questions will have a penalty of 1/3 of the correct question. Passed with 60%.
Student work: 40%
* Completion of portfolio and rubrics (required). Valued:
- Capacity of expression (expository, terminological, orthographic, grammatical).
- Ability to synthesize, relate concepts and ideas, and reflect.
- Mastery of the theoretical content and its practical application,
* Voluntary activities proposed by the teachers/students
* Continuous evaluation (class attendance).
* Mandatory Workshops and Seminars
Final grade in both exams: average of the two subjects. The 4'5 of one of them is compensated by a 5'5 of the other.
